Emergency assistance should be discoverable from anywhere.
Emergency.ug is a national digital emergency-access platform that connects a person’s GPS location with relevant emergency information in the surrounding area.
It is built for moments when help may exist, but the right contact is unknown. That can happen on a major road, in a rural community, in an unfamiliar town, or while travelling away from home.
When an emergency happens, people should be able to quickly identify who can help them based on where they are.
Location turns a difficult search into a clear next step.
Emergency.ug combines GPS, emergency information, SOS support and location sharing in one straightforward experience.

With permission, GPS establishes where you are so the platform can provide locally relevant information instead of making you search a national list.

Emergency records are matched to the surrounding area and organised across Police, Medical and Local Council 1 categories.

The SOS control is designed to reduce the steps needed to begin an emergency action and capture a fresh location when it matters.

Location sharing helps communicate where assistance is needed, especially when the user cannot describe the place clearly or is unfamiliar with the area.

The platform is intended to support government, Police, health, local leadership, telecommunications and emergency-response institutions, not replace them.
A key deployment goal is access without requiring an ordinary data or airtime balance. Achieving that reliably depends on appropriate telecommunications agreements, technical deployment and network availability.

The field data collection team works within communities to source and verify information. Periodic checks help maintain existing records while the programme progressively adds new areas and contacts.

Our partner in data sourcing is MIDCIL, the Mshauri Initiative for Digital & Civic Literacy.
Emergency information is sourced and used safely, following data protection guidelines and the laws that govern data sourcing and use, including Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act.
That commitment extends to the emergency directory itself: records are collected with care, verified before publication and handled only for the purpose of emergency assistance.
